Welcome to Snore Sense ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Snore Sense mobile application (the "App").

Key Point: Snore Sense is designed with a local-first architecture. Your audio recordings and personal data are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Profile Information

During onboarding, we collect the following information to personalize your experience:

  • Birth year (used to calculate your age)
  • Biological sex
  • Height and weight
  • Measurement unit preference (imperial or metric)
  • Your reasons for using the app

This information is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

1.2 Audio Recordings

The App records audio while you sleep to detect and analyze snoring. These recordings:

  • Are stored locally on your device as audio files (.m4a format)
  • Are processed entirely on your device
  • Are never uploaded to any server or cloud service
  • Can be deleted by you at any time
  • Are automatically removed when you uninstall the App

1.3 Sleep Session Data

For each recording session, the App collects and stores locally:

  • Session start and end times
  • Snore event details (timestamp, duration, intensity classification)
  • Snore intensity levels (quiet, light, loud, epic)
  • Audio analysis data (peak amplitude, dominant frequency, loudness in dB)
  • Calculated snore score (0-100)
  • Total time in bed and time spent snoring
  • Baseline noise floor measurements

1.4 User-Logged Data

You may optionally log the following information to help identify patterns:

  • Contributing factors (e.g., alcohol consumption, sleep position, allergies)
  • Remedies used (e.g., nasal strips, mouth tape, pillows)
  • Rest rating (your subjective sleep quality, 1-5 scale)
  • Sleep notes (free-form text)

1.5 Subscription Information

If you subscribe to Snore Sense Pro, we collect:

  • Subscription status and type (monthly, yearly, or lifetime)
  • Subscription expiration date
  • Purchase history

Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment card details.

2. Device Permissions

The App requires the following permissions:

Permission Purpose
Microphone Required to record audio while you sleep and detect snoring events
Background Audio Allows the App to continue recording when your device screen is off or you switch to another app
Notifications (optional) To send bedtime reminders if you enable this feature

We do not request access to your camera, location, contacts, calendar, or HealthKit data.

3. How Your Data is Stored

3.1 Local Storage Only

All your data is stored locally on your device:

  • Audio files: Saved in the App's Documents folder
  • Session data: Stored in a local database (SwiftData)
  • Profile and preferences: Stored in local app settings

3.2 No Cloud Sync

We do not sync your data to any cloud service. Your recordings and personal data remain solely on your device. If you back up your device to iCloud, your App data may be included in that backup according to your iCloud settings.

3.3 Storage Management

You can configure a storage limit for audio recordings in the App settings. When this limit is reached, the oldest audio clips are automatically deleted to make room for new recordings. Your session data and snore analysis are retained.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. When you subscribe or restore purchases, RevenueCat receives:

  • Your subscription status and purchase transactions
  • Anonymous device identifiers for purchase verification

RevenueCat does not have access to your audio recordings, snore data, or personal profile information. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

4.2 Affiliate Product Links

The App displays recommendations for snoring remedies and sleep products. When you tap on a product recommendation:

  • You will be redirected to a third-party website in Safari
  • These links contain affiliate tracking parameters
  • The third-party website will receive your visit and may set cookies according to their own privacy policies

We may earn a commission if you make a purchase through these links. This helps support the continued development of the App.

4.3 No Analytics Services

We do not use any third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, or similar tools. We do not track your behavior within the App.

5. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used solely to:

  • Provide the core service: Record, analyze, and display your snoring patterns
  • Calculate insights: Generate snore scores, identify trends, and correlate factors with snoring
  • Personalize recommendations: Suggest relevant remedies based on your logged factors
  • Manage subscriptions: Verify your subscription status and unlock premium features
  • Send reminders: Notify you at your preferred bedtime (if enabled)

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information, audio recordings, or health data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your data may be shared only in these limited circumstances:

  • RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase data only (see Section 4.1)
  • Affiliate partners: Only if you click on a product link (see Section 4.2)
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access Your Data

All your data is accessible directly within the App. You can view your recordings, session history, and snore analysis at any time.

7.2 Delete Your Data

You have full control over your data:

  • Delete individual recordings from within the App
  • Delete all data by uninstalling the App
  • Set storage limits to automatically remove old recordings

7.3 Notification Preferences

You can enable or disable bedtime reminders in the App settings or through your device's notification settings.

7.4 Subscription Management

You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings or the App's subscription management screen.

8. Data Retention

  • Audio recordings: Retained until you delete them or they are auto-purged based on your storage limit
  • Session data: Retained until you delete the recording or uninstall the App
  • Profile information: Retained until you uninstall the App
  • Subscription data: Managed by Apple and RevenueCat according to their retention policies

When you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is permanently deleted from your device.

9. Data Security

Your data is protected by:

  • Your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
  • iOS app sandboxing, which prevents other apps from accessing your data
  • Encryption provided by your device when you enable a passcode

Please note that audio files stored on your device may be accessible through the iOS Files app if you have enabled file sharing.

10. Children's Privacy

Snore Sense is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please contact us and we will assist with any concerns.

11. Health Information Disclaimer

Snore Sense is not a medical device. The App is designed to help you track and understand your snoring patterns for informational purposes only. It should not be used to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition, including sleep apnea.

If you have concerns about your sleep health, snoring, or suspect you may have a sleep disorder, please consult a qualified healthcare provider.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify you through the App for significant changes

Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
